Sorry I’ve been so absent around these parts. The Volvo is sounding better than ever thanks to a little (read: wallet crushing) Borla catback GT exhaust.

Exhaust mods make WAY more of a difference than I could have ever imagined. Especially good ones but even terrible ones are better than stock. I’m a huge proponent of fact cannons even though I’d never own one since I don’t want people to hate me. But man do I just love excessive noise coming out of any car. I don’t even mind the obnoxious as hell Harleys since all noise is good noise.

Haha I’m sure this actually sounds nice though! I was happy to spend enough on my Miata exhaust to avoid droning or anything too raspy.

The cold start is now truly epic (I’ll be posting a video soon) though I could see neighbors hating me some mornings.

And you aren’t wrong. It feels a lot... Smoother almost when I get on it. It also added a surprising amount of turbo noise. Virtually no drone (thanks Borla!) And s much deeper, more aggressive sound, especially above 2500 rpm. I’m thrilled with it.

It ruins stock exhausts for me though. My Subaru sounds nice stock but that’s if I can hear it. Definitely needs like 10x the volume. Just funny to me how much louder my car with half the horsepower is. Maybe I just remove/disconnect the muffler for a free “upgrade”

I thought you had a C30?

I am looking at picking up an R design V60 and selling the C30. How have you liked the P3 platform so far?

It’s fun trying to decide if I hate myself or money more...

In all honesty it was a deal I couldn’t pass up on a car I never thought I’d be able to own. I couldn’t not jump on it

I agree. It shocks me more people don’t do it. My z3 sounded much better with a resonator delete and it only cost me 130$. Throatier and a little louder but still quiet under idle. I just picked up a v8 5 series and the tone is very nice but I’ve been trying to figure out the best route to get more sound because I need it haha

I think you know, but if not, I actually had an 08 C30 prior to this.

They really are completely different beasts. As much as I loved my C30, this feels much more like... A Volvo. Very solid. I personally love the interior. The power difference is unbelievable. Yes, the C30 handled a bit better, and was definitely a more retro, cool looking car. But I honestly don’t miss it much at all. The T6 is a brilliant engine. Sure, I can’t do a U-turn, and parts cost a tad more, and the aftermarket parts are just starting to come to market, but I love it.

Mines a 2013 I picked up with just under 50k miles. One owner, Florida car. Guy was a Volvo nut who owned it. So it was very well cared for. He actually traded it to a Toyota dealer because he needed a work van for his business. I basically stole it from them since the dealer had no idea what it is. For the price I paid (under $22k) it’s the bargain of the century for rarity, power, and luxury.

Yeah I knew you had a C30. That’s a crazy low price you got. The 2017 R Design wagon was $44k. It was super quick and I liked it a lot. I hated the way the engine sounded, however. I would rather test drive one with the I6. I have found a couple 2015 R Designs for right around $30k with low miles (30,000ish) and that sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

I like the C30 and mine is pretty well dialed in, but I would like a little more space. I just got a new job and won’t be driving as much since my commute is going from 50 miles a day to 10, but something a little more “grown up” might be nice.

Hope you enjoy the exhaust. I am always amazed by how big a change the exhaust can make on the driving experience.
